February 10th and 11th, 2007
I worked on the car for two hours on Saturday. I was hoping to get a lot done but I was
helping my friend’s nephew with his S-10 restoration project. I was able to clean out more garbage, all
the stock wiring and the HVAC system.

On Sunday, I removed the stock gas tank first. Lewiston rules state that you must remove the gas tank or drill a hole into the tank to empty it. The stock gas tank cannot be used and a five-gallon boat tank located in the back seat is allowed. Another good reason to remove the stock tank is so I can torch some holes into the trunk so I can chain the rear bumper. I saved the metal straps that held the tank; I will use these later for welding the side-irons.
I removed the exhaust system from the car with a Sawz-All. I chopped it up into segments for easy removal
and disposal. I use to save these
pieces for making exhaust pipes but I have stacks for the 500 engine.

The trunk was shut and the lock was popped so I had to use the torch to burn out the latch. Well no dead hookers in the trunk. Just some rusted tools, blocks of wood and some pieces of a swing-set.

No trailer hitches are allowed at the Lewiston derby so I
torched it out. That is what is amazing
about the Cadillacs of the 70’s, they had engines that could power a truck and
could haul a trailer.
Total Time spent working on car: 5 hours.
