February 4, 2007 12pm Superbowl Day
I moved the Cadillac into Bay #1 of the shop. I started stripping the car and checking it over. I will remove the 472/500/transmission (can’t see the casting numbers) in the car and replace it with last year’s derby proven 500 engine and transmission. Removed the front bumper since it was junk and it needs to be out of the way when I do the engine/transmission swap. I am using last year’s bumper to replace it.

I removed the hood as well, it gets in the way during the
swap and I will need to cut some holes in it for the carb and the exhaust
pipes. Another trick I do before I remove the hood is mark where the
bracket and hood meet. This will help when I reinstall the hood so it
will be square.
Always the fun part to stripping a car is the insides. I usually get a slave…err… newbie/rookie driver to do that while I work on the engine. Like I said above, Baddman already did a lot of stripping on this already. I removed the front seat and cleaned out some of the garbage.

Some people leave the dash and some people leave it
in. Since this car is going to the Lewiston Smash Bash, it must be
removed. Note: Anything that can shatter, break or burn must be
removed. That means glass, plastic, fabric, chrome and loose pieces of
metal (like clips) must be removed.
At Crownn Racing, there are two methods to taking out the
dash: 1. unbolt it or 2. Smash the hell out of it with a sledgehammer. I
pick the sledgehammer because it is faster and I do not care about the wiring
either since I am replacing it with a Crownn Racing “Black Box”.
You find many interesting things in cars when you strip them. Some examples of what we found: money, clothes, women’s underwear, ten-year-old canned cat food, wasps, homemade-porn movie tapes, cans of beer, toys, ammo and many other things. This Caddy has seen some action already judging from the condom wrappers. I guess the Baddman was breaking it in.
Total Time spent working on car 3 hours.
